Iron deficiency isn’t “just fatigue” — it’s a real health issue that affects women with bleeding disorders more often than many people realize.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Iron is essential for making hemoglobin, the protein that helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. When iron levels are too low, your body can’t make enough hemoglobin — and that leads to iron deficiency and, eventually, anemia.
𝗪𝗵𝗼’𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸?
Women and girls with bleeding disorders (like von Willebrand disease, hemophilia or platelet function disorders) are especially vulnerable. Studies show iron deficiency may be highly prevalent in this group and frequently under recognized. Talk to your healthcare provider if you feel you are experiencing these symptoms.
